Brief
We have undertaken the transformation of a historic 1920s-era abandoned bank in Chicago into an opulent five-star luxury hotel. This concept design breathes new life into the building, seamlessly blending contemporary glamour with Art Deco influences to honor its origins. The project is centered on creating an ultra-luxurious guest experience while preserving the grandeur of the original architecture.
Design Vision: The design harmoniously fuses modern elegance with the sophistication of Art Deco elements, ensuring a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic. The hotel’s ambiance is rooted in opulence, with carefully curated materials, textures, and lighting that elevate the guest experience.
Lobby & Guest Experience: The grand lobby is envisioned as the heart of the hotel, featuring exquisite spaces dedicated to fine dining, entertainment, and social engagement.
This luxury hotel concept not only revitalizes a historic landmark but also redefines luxury hospitality in Chicago. By preserving the grandeur of the past while infusing modern glamour and comfort, the design presents a world-class destination for discerning travelers. This concept stands as a testament to how historic spaces can be reimagined into ultra-luxury experiences, ensuring longevity and relevance in today’s world.
MATERIAL
Composition
The material palette was meticulously curated to evoke refined luxury, blending deep espresso browns, midnight blues, and jewel-toned velvets for an atmosphere of sophistication and exclusivity. Every element was chosen to elevate the guest experience while ensuring a high return on investment. All materials were carefully selected to withstand the test of time and the demands of high-traffic use.
Emperor Dark Brown marble flooring, inlaid with an Art Deco-inspired pattern, establishes a foundation of craftsmanship and heritage. Bronze-framed mirrors and bespoke wood paneling add depth and elegance, creating a seamless dialogue between nostalgia and modernity.
A custom-designed, multi-colored glass chandelier cascades from the ceiling, refracting light in a dazzling interplay of color and movement. More than a statement piece, it defines the opulence of the space, enhancing the guest experience and reinforcing the hotel’s position in the ultra-luxury hospitality sector

Originally built in the early 20th century, the Pioneer Trust & Savings Bank Building stands as a testament to Chicago’s rich architectural and financial history. Designed in the Classical Revival style, the structure once symbolized prosperity and community, with its grand limestone façade, intricate detailing, and soaring ceilings reflecting an era of elegance and craftsmanship.
Today, we are honoring its legacy by transforming this historic landmark into a luxury five-star hotel, seamlessly blending timeless architecture with contemporary sophistication. Preserving its original bones—including the ornate vault doors, marble columns, and expansive arched windows—we are redefining the space into an opulent retreat that celebrates both heritage and modern indulgence. This reimagined destination will offer world-class accommodations, curated experiences, and unparalleled hospitality, breathing new life into a Chicago icon.
